Please review the important administrative information below:
Onsite Classes

Instructions on how to prepare for your first class are available under the Course Prep section on your course’s webpage. Additional information may be provided by your instructor via email 1-2 days before the first class.

Students and faculty receive extended access to HCP’s facilities beyond the standard gallery hours. Morning classes students may arrive at HCP beginning at 9:30 AM and evening classes are scheduled until 9:30 PM.

All students must sign in at the front desk upon their arrival at HCP. As a courtesy to your instructor and fellow students, please arrive at HCP at least five minutes before the scheduled time of your class.

All or most of your classes will take place at the Houston Center for Photography located at 1441 West Alabama, Houston, TX 77006. Your instructor will provide you with additional details during your first class should your course include any offsite/outdoor classes.

Free parking is available in front of HCP. Additional free parking is available on Mulberry Street.

A water fountain is available next to the library area at your convenience. Students should bring their own water bottles (cups are not provided for environmental reasons) and may bring their own food and/or beverages. Full-day class students may choose to have lunch at one of several nearby restaurants. Please be mindful and help keep HCP a pleasant and clean environment for visitors and students alike. No food or beverages are allowed in the Digital Lab area under any circumstances.

The John Cleary Library is currently undergoing reorganization and is closed to the public. Please refrain from entering the library area or taking any books off the shelves.

Students must make every effort to attend classes as scheduled. HCP does not offer refunds for missed classes nor the option to complete classes in future courses. Please contact your instructor to receive any available relevant educational materials.

Online Classes

Instructions on how to prepare for your first class are available under the Course Prep section on your course’s webpage. Additional information may be provided by your instructor via email 1-2 days before the first class.

Your Zoom link will be sent to you one day before the scheduled start date of your class. In addition, a reminder will be sent out 1-2 hours before the first class begins.

All HCP courses and workshops are participatory. Students are expected to attend and participate in live class sessions.

By attending online courses at HCP, students consent to classes being recorded. HCP encourages instructors to record online courses allowing students to complete missed classes or review important parts of their courses. However, some instructors may choose not to record their courses due to various concerns including students’ privacy and copyright issues. Students enrolled in online courses should check with their instructor if classes will be recorded and plan accordingly. Class recordings are kept for a period of 2-3 weeks after which they are deleted. HCP can not be held responsible in the event that a recording was deleted 3-weeks (or more) after a class took place.

Please contact your instructor to receive any available recordings and/or other relevant educational materials. HCP does not offer refunds for missed online classes that were not recorded nor the option to complete missed classes in future courses.
