Shiprock explores Tsé Bitʼaʼí or “Rock with Wings”—a volcanic rock formation in northwestern New Mexico—as it is seen by the Diné (Navajo) people who live in its shadow. Deemie’s series reflects on the connection between land and identity, capturing moments where modern existence meets enduring landmark.
